About Me

My name is Jonathan Kwan, though most people call me Jonny (or any similar assonant nickname). I am an alum of the University of Washington who recently began his career as a software engineer, and I often spend my free time playing video games. This website, however, is a testament to my artistic endeavors! I pride myself primarily as a people photographer and the filmmaker known as Rain at Daybreak.

Right before I turned twelve, my father gifted me his old camera, and ever since then, photography has been a passion of mine. After gaining confidence through taking photos of classes and school events throughout my childhood, I took my first paid job in 2018 and have kept moving forward. I consider portraits and candids as my specialty; a good photo's ability to bring back memories from an otherwise forgotten time cannot be overstated.

Videography has been a hobby of mine for even longer, as I grew up watching way more television than a kid probably should. I ended up becoming "The Guy That Films Everything," which gave me a lot of content to practice editing with. This transformed into the start of many narrative projects, and that ended up making me the president of UW's film production club, LUX. There, I tried to make filmmaking approachable to all, as everyone has a story to tell.
